I make no apology for the same anglers names appearing here, but there are few others putting in an appearance. The past couple of weeks have seen carp still putting up a good show. Aron Reilly puts in regular afternoon sessions and has had good success with three fish in the first week, all commons at 5, 9 and a 17½ lb (click to enlarge) . Week two saw another couple of commons for him at 10½ lb (click to enlarge) and 11 lb. Gary Knott landed the orange koi on the 11th at it's usual weight of 11½ lb. Steve Hart fished Monday 16th and netted the large Ghostie at 18¼ lb. On the same day Micky Wiggs had a common of 13¼ lb and followed it up the following day with another at 16 lb 2 oz. I missed my usual weekend session but nipped in for a mid-week go with a 10 lb common providing a result for my effort and this weekend added another three commons at 8 lb 2 oz, 9¼ lbs and topped up with a 17¾lb (click to enlarge).
Date : November 9th 2009

Despite the low number of anglers tghere have been good results for carpers over the last couple of weeks. Micky Wiggs has landed four fish over a couple of visits, a 7 lb common on the first occaision and an 11 lb mirror, 14 lb 10 oz common and 18 lb ghostie on the other. Gary had a good result with a 16 lb common and 16 lb 5 oz mirror coming to his rods while Mick Farmer landed a 16lb common (click to enlarge) on one visit and a 15 lb one later. Steve Hart paid the one visit for a 14 lb common while Dave had a 17½ lb fish. Barry fished the weekend for another common of 16 lb 6 oz, while my visit resulted in a couple of small commons of 8¾ lbs and 7 lb 14 oz.

There have been little in the way of float anglers but the few that have paid a visit report some success with roach, there being a few better sized fish amongst them.
Date : October 26th 2009

I think the time has arrived when reports will be updated fortnightly. Only one carp out this week, and that one I had Sunday in the form of a small mirror of 8 lb 14 oz. I believe this to be more due to lack of angling activity than to the fish not playing ball. Barry fished a feeder rod on Sunday for a mixed bag which included a tench and a nice 2 lb crucian along with a couple of small carp.
Date : October 19th 2009

Sport slowing right down. Very few carp out this week, one of our more elderly anglers, Ted Knight floatfished on Monday and hooked into a 4½ lb common. Brian Apley paid one of his usual visits and was rewarded with a 10 lb common. Apart from that there were a few baby carp taken on the float.
Date : October 12th 2009

With Autumn well upon us and the weather rather variable, there are fewer anglers on the bank side, as a consequence there have been less in the way of carp being caught. Aron Reilly paid a visit on Tuesday which resulted in a new PB for him with a 15lb common (click to enlarge) being landed. Nothing else reported during the course of the week but my weekend visit provided a common of 14 lb 2 oz and another little'un of 4 lb 3 oz. Barry likewise had a similar small common. Carp anglers also landed a couple of tench at about 3 lb each.
Date : October 5th 2009

A good number of carp are still finding their way into landing nets. Micky Wiggs put in time at the beginning of the week for a five fish catch, three commons at 11 lb, 16 lb 9 oz & 17 lb along with two mirrors of 14 lb 2 oz & 14 lb 7 oz. Aron Reilly had three out during the week, two on Wednesday - a 9 lb common and a nice 11 lb linear mirror (click to enlarge). He followed this up on Friday with a 13lb common (click to enlarge). Day-ticket angler, Mat Campion, landed a 16 lb Common Saturday morning. That was thr only carp out over the weekend apart from a couple of little'uns under 5lb.

The best of the float fishing seems to have passed. Very few trying their luck during the week and those that did struggled to get any result, a few small roach and the odd baby carp being all that came their way.
Date : September 28th 2009

Very few carp anglers at the water until towards the end of the week. A couple of day-ticket visitors attended on Friday with a five fish result between them. One had two commons at 14 & 16 lbs., the other three, a mirror of 12 & two commons of 12½ and 14½ lbs. At the weekend Barry netted a crucian/common hybrid of about 1 lb and a nice mirror of 12¾ lbs. (click to enlarge). My efforts resulted in a 12¾ lb common.

Float anglers are finding the sport starting to drop off. Still a few roach showing and baby carp continue to take anything offered to them but tench and perch are simply not showing themselves while crucians are now few and far between.
Date : September 21st 2009

New Member, Steve Hart, put in time at the beginning of the week with some good results. Monday saw a two fish catch of a 12½ Koi carp. (click to enlarge) & a common of 16½ lb. The following day provided a four fish catch of commons, 2 at 16 lb., one of which can be viewed here (click to enlarge) and others of 18 & 19 lb. Wednesday saw another two fish see his landing net with a 14 lb common and a mirror of 11½ lb added to his tally. A day-ticket angler had a 7 lb common in the midweek and another landed an 18 lb common at the weekend. My weekend visit provided mixed results. I was plagued by baby carp, hooking four commons no bigger than 1½ lb, but I also had a 16¾ mirror and a 12½ lb common as well as a crucian of 2½ and a small tench.

Float anglers have also been finding the small carp, mainly coming to breadflake and some have also been finding decent roach if fishing light enough. Tench have sadly not shown themselves in any quantity recently and perch are still playing hard to get.
Date : September 14th 2009

Carp beginning to be more difficult to catch. Cooler weather and low water levels probably don't help. Brian Apley continued his run of success with a common of 8 lb. There was a 12 lb mirror taken Saturday morning by a day-ticket angler, Matt. Mick Farmer had an 8 lb common. The only other carp fell to Nathan Jowett, and that a baby at about 3 lb.

Float anglers are now getting fewer results. Small roach and carp making up most of the catches with the odd crucian or two. One tench has been caught during the week.
Date : September 6th 2009

Once again the number of anglers visiting has diminished but carp are still active and being caught. Micky Wiggs fished Monday to capture a 13 lb common. Aaron had a 12 lb mirror on Tuesday. Brian Apley paid his usual Friday visit for a 2 fish catch of 8 lb & 12 lb, both commons. Barry had the best of the weekend anglers with an 8 lb mirror and a 14½ lb common. He also had a nice crucian of 3 lb. My visit resulted in a small common of 8¼ lb.

General float fishing is now getting difficult. Roach are not too obliging and little else is showing although breadflake is accounting for a few small carp.
Date : August 30th 2009

Not that many carp anglers during the course of this week but those who did visit generally caught fish. Mick Farmer had a nice common on Monday at 18 lb. Gary paid a couple of short evening visits midweek for a 12 lb mirror. Brian Apley paid his usual Friday visit for a 16 lb mirror. Day-ticket anglers accounted for a couple of commons over the weekend and Barry landed a 12½ lb common early Sunday morning. I had to wait for the end of the day for my reward in the shape of a 16¾ mirror. (click to enlarge).

Not much to say about the float fishing. Most anglers were struggling for fish but a few fishing light enough were finding small roach with the occasional better fish requiring the use of a net.
Date : August 23rd 2009

Still plenty of carp gracing anglers nets. Micky Wiggs fished Monday for a four fish catch with the best at 14 lb 3 oz. He returned Wednesday for another mid-double common. Thursday, and a day-ticket angler succeeded with a common of 18½ lbs. Friday saw Brian Apley have a three fish catch and Gary a mirror of 12 lb in a short evening session. Sunday saw another three carp on the banks. 14 lb 13 oz common for Barry, a 13 lb 1 oz (click to enlarge) common for Nathan Jowett while his mate Jack had a 9 lb fish.

Floatfishing continues to throw up small roach to maggot and larger specimens to bigger baits along with small carp and crucians.
Date : August 17th 2009

Not been fishing myself this week - other things have had to have priority - so report a bit sketchy. Carp are still coming out. Brian Abley fished Monday with the result of an 11 lb mirror and John Tindall, a 14 lb mirror the same day. He also paid a visit later on in the week for a three fish catch, best of 13 lb. A mid-week visit by Mick Farmer resulted in two nice commons of 16 and 17 lb and an unknown day-ticket angler had a five fish catch - weights unknown. The only carp landed at the weekend, an 8 lb common, fell to Barry but other anglers reported good fish hooked and lost.

Float fishing has been fairly consistent. Maggot continues to account for plenty of small roach. Sweetcorn accounts for fewer but better sized specimens. Luncheon meat most consistent for crucians and small carp. Hooker pellets also catching small carp and the odd tench.
Date : August 10th 2009

Carp fishing has returned to it's normal state. I'm given to understand that a few fish were captured at the beginning of the week, amongst them was one of the golden ghosties at 16¼ lb. My mid-week visit resulted in three fish, all commons of 9, 12½ and
16½ lb
(click to enlarge). Rob Wright landed a nice 16 lb common on the same session. I've had reports of others later in the week, including a 15 lb fish taken on flourescent corn artificial bait. The weekend was slow. Young Aaron caught his first fish in the shape of a mid-double common, I managed a little 8 lb specimen and a tench of about 3 lb.

Float fishing is possibly looking up. Most anglers report catches of good quality roach, the occasional crucian and small carp. Indeed in a short float fishing session using luncheon meat to a size 8 hook, I had a nice 1½ lb crucian and a small koi/carp hybrid - nice to catch.
Date : August 3rd 2009

After the excellent carp fishing last week, this week has been a bit of a let-down. There have been a few fish coming out with a
14 lb common
(click to enlarge) going to Nathan Jowett, a junior on a day ticket, at the start of the week. Nothing more reported until Thursday when I had another couple at 14¼ and 14¾ lbs. A visitor on an evening ticket had another couple the following day at 13 and 16 lb. The weekend produced just one, an 8 lb common.

The float fishing continues as in the past. Still no sign of perch and tench are few and far between. Crucians also seem to be taking a backseat at the moment but there are still plenty of roach coming to the hook, along with small carp.
Date : July 26th 2009

Carp have been much more obliging than usual this last week. A visit by the two Simons (Harwood & Gullidge) saw an eight fish catch between them - six going to Harwood with a best being one of the golden ghosties at 17 lb. The following day Mick Farmer matched this with another six fish catch which included a 17 lb mirror & the same 17 lb ghostie again. I gave it a go on Thursday with a three fish catch, best of which was 16½ Common carp(click to enlarge) and Micky Wiggs had two commons of 13 & 16 lb. The weekend threw up another five fish, two to John Tindall and three to myself, all commons.

Float anglers have also had a better time. Plenty of small roach are being taken on maggot, whilst sweetcorn and luncheon meat are picking up better sized fish, along with small carp and the odd crucian.
Date : July 20th 2009

Little in the way of carp coming out early in the week. Things turned round on Friday when Brian Abley had a three fish catch of 12, 13 and 15 lb - all commons. Mick Farmer had a small common of about 8 lb, backed up with a 3 lb tench and Micky Wiggs found a 13 lb common. The weekend saw no further catches.

Float fishing continues along the same vein as previously with early morning probably the best bet for results. Struggling for bites during the height of the day.
Date : July 13th 2009

There have been a few carp out during the course of the week. New member Micky Wiggs landed a 10 lb common on his first visit on Tuesday. Matt Woods had a good time Wednesday with a three fish catch of 10, 14 and 19 lbs. On Thursday John Tindale landed a nice 15½ lb mirror, Rob Wright a 10 lb common and I had a little 8½ lb one, followed at the weekend with a 9½ lb mirror.

Float fishing tends to be best early morning and evening. Mainly small roach, a few rudd and the odd tench and crucian. Small carp under the 1 lb mark are also showing in catches.
Date : July 6th 2009

Weather conditions remain remain very warm and as a result fishing continues to be a bit hit and miss. The few carp catches during the week have all been of small fish and apart from a small common of about 5 lb, I was the only person to have a reasonable sized fish this weekend in the shape of an orange ghostie of 15 lb 14 oz.(click to enlarge)

Float anglers continue to catch small roach throughout the day and those arriving for an early morning visit have been rewarded with small carp and crucians. Tench are few and far between and like last year, perch seem to be absent from the catches.
Date : June 28th 2009

Continued warm weather has made fishing difficult other than early morning or late afternoon and evening. The few carp landed during the week have in the main been small fish under 10 lb. Barry fished an evening session mid-week with some success landing a 17 lb common and Saturday evening provided me with 16¼ lb Mirror(click to enlarge).

The situation has been similar for float anglers seeking smaller fish. The only species providing sport during the middle of the day has been roach - small ones at that. Early morning provides the best chance of crucians and tench have been notable by their abscence.
Date : June 21st 2009

First week of the new season, and the water if fishing quite well. The first day saw Matt Woods land a 15½ lb common, Mick Farmer, a similar fish of 15 lb, and Carl Vacher two commons of 7 and 14 lb. Matt had another couple the following day with a little common of about 4 lb and a pretty 12 lb mirror. I chipped in with a 12 lb common and a couple of tench. Brian Abley had a good day on Friday with a five fish haul which included four carp between 3 and 12 lb and a tench. Sunday, two carp were captured, a nice 16¼ lb common to Barry and a little 7 lb fish to myself.

Float fishing has proved quite successful. Most are getting into good quantities of roach and a few perch. Very few tench coming to the float but early morning visitors are finding crucians quite willing to take a bait. Nice to see these making a good comeback.
