Tail end of the season and there have been a few carp out during the latter half of the week. Friday, and a newcomer to the water, Steve, had a duo of commons at 8½ and 16&franc12; lb. That evening, Alex put in a couple of hours to land the orange ghostie at 17½ lb. Two other fish were landed over the weekend, a 17½ lb mirror and a 17 lb common. My weekend visit resulted in a small tench of about 3-3½ lb.
Date - March 11th 2009

The last couple of weeks have seen a few carp taken. Newcomer, Alex has had a couple of successful visits, resulting in commons of 14 and 16¼ lb. Others report catches up to 14 lb. My last weekend visit resulted in two fish, both commons at 8½ and 14½ lb. With the weather warming up, there is plenty of evidence of carp activity and I would expect most anglers to have a result in this coming week.
Date - February 27th 2009

There are a few anglers showing up now and a few carp are being caught. Gary had a nice 13 lb mirror for a few hours fishing last mid-week. This week has shown success for Mick Farmer with a double fish catch of 13½ lb and 16 lb and another angler had a couple of smaller fish of 5 and 8 lb. My one visit for the last 3 months resulted in a lost fish. Bummer!!
Date - January 31st 2009

Still not been fishing myself and despite visiting the lake each day have had very little contact with other users. However, I have had some news of catches. An 11 lb common was landed on Boxing day but the captor has had four blank visits since. Monday before last, two carp were landed by a day visitor, the best being 18 lb 2 oz. Another angler has paid two visits in the last week landing two on the first visit, a 7 lb common and a 21½ lb mirror. The second visit resulted in another two fish with the best being 17½ lb.
Date - December 1st 2008

Due to personal reasons I've been unable to fish for the last couple of weeks and there has been little news reaching my ears. Gary has made a couple of short afternoon visits and connected with commons of 15 and 17¼ lb.
Date - November 18th 2008

A Tuesday visit by John Tindall resulted in a nice 18¼ lb common. Mark Traylor continued with his success om Sunday with a true brace of commons(click to enlarge) weighing in at 14 lb 6 oz and 11 lb 2 oz. Another common of about 9 lb was taken from the same swim on Monday. Float anglers are now few and far between with the turning of the weather.
Date - November 11th 2008

Mick Farmer paid a visit at the start of the week to land an 11½ lb common. No further catch news until this weekend. Mark Traylor fished the point to bring the net under a nice condition common of 10½ lb. Barry fished long bank with considerable success landing a 15 lb mirror, 11 lb common and two smaller fish of about 3 and 5 lb.
Date - November 3rd 2008

No reports of any catches made during the week. Possibly not too many visitors at this time of year. My weekend visit produced two carp, nice fish, one a mirror at 14¾ lbs, the other a common at 15½. These were backed up by a 5 lb tench.
Date - October 27th 2008

Mick Farmer made an early week visit to net a common carp of about 8 lb. I know of no other catches until this weekend when a day ticket visitor landed a 7 lb common on floatfished luncheon meat. My weekend visit resulted in two fish, both commons, of 6 and 7¼ lb. These were backed up by a 4 lb tench.
Date - October 20th 2008

Carp still feeding, if not to the extent of a month ago. John Tindall paid a mid-week visit to bank three commons, all about the 10 lb mark. Day ticket angler, Barry had a good fight from an 11¼ lb mirror before netting it, and my weekend visit resulted in a 9 lb 14 oz common and a mirror of 14 lb. No reports of how float anglers have been faring, if indeed there have been any.
Date - October 13th 2008

It's that time of year when visitors are few and far between. Such has been the case this past few days. My weekend visit produced just two fish, both commons, one at 12¾ lbs and the other a fish I'd previously caught about 3 months back at 14 lb but now weighing
15¼ lb.(click to enlarge)

Float anglers are faring little better, a few small roach and the occaisional small carp would seem to be the best anybody is managing.
Date - October 8th 2008

There doesn't appear to have been too many anglers visiting the lake over this last week. I've had no catch reports and I was the only person on the water during my normal weekend visit. It would seem that a few good chances to get into the fish may have gone begging because I had a very good session, landing a flourescent orange koi at 9½ lb and a ghostie of 12½ lb. As well as these less than usual catches I also banked three commons at 10½ lb, 13 lb and a pristine 16¾ lb fish.(click to enlarge)
Date - October 2nd 2008

Setting up a new computer has meant a delay in entering this update - apologies. A good midweek session by John resulted in three fish, commons of 18 and 16 lb along with a 12½ lb mirror. He also suffered with the attention of small carp hooking and landing five, all about the 1 - 1½ lb mark. My weekend session produced just two commons of 5 and 14 lb 2 oz., backed up a tench of about 3 lb.

Float anglers are now finding the going a bit tough. The only fish showing are small roach, and these are few and far between.
Date - September 23rd 2008

Carp reports at a standstill this week. I can only report on my weekend capture of a 12 lb 14oz common. Small roach still coming to floatfished maggot, sweetcorn finding the better specimens. One or two small carp still showing amongst the catches. Tench not showing at all and crucians still continue to be scarce.
Date - September 16th 2008

Once again, Mick Farmer has continued to be into the carp. Saturday found him with a nice common of 18½ lb. A later visit on Monday, a small common of about 6 lb. Lee Shepherd, fishing a day ticket on Sunday afternoon, landed the orange ghostie (common/koi cross) at 16½ lb. My weekend visits resulted in a total of two commons at 14 and 14 lb 14 oz., and another of those small carp - a mirror this time - of about 1½ lb. These were backed up with a tench of about 3½ lb.

Float anglers, and those fishing feeder, continue to take a good quantity of small roach. Perch continue to be elusive, but there are a good few anglers finding the small carp up to 3 lb. No crucians showing in this past week and tench continue to be scarce.
Date - September 10th 2008

There have been a few carp to 14 lb during the course of the week. My extended weekend session (hence the lateness of this report) produced just one reasonably decent carp, a common of 8 lb 14 oz. I also had five small commons of between 1 and 2 lb to baits of a size they had no right taking. These were backed up with a tench of 6 lb. Mick Farmer paid a midweek visit to bank two decent sized fish of 15 and 17¼ lbs.

Float anglers have continued to find small roach in the main, along with the occaisional crucian and small carp in sufficient quantity to ensure a satisfactory days fishing.
Date - September 2nd 2008

Carp few and far between this last week. Gary paid an evening visit at the start of the week to succeed with a nice common of 13½ lb. I have also been informed of an unweighed probable mid-double being taken during the week. Apart from that, little else appears to have been taken. My normal weekend visit was a blank - only enlivened by the capture of a tench.

Float anglers, and those fishing light feeder, have been getting the better of the action with plenty of small roach. Crucians have not shown recently, but a few tench are now being taken and the small carp up to 3 lb are continuing to oblige.
Date - August 25th 2008

Patience paid off for member Mark Traylor with a nice brace of common carp weighing 12½ & 13½ lb. Mick Farmer had the smallest of his carp-fishing career with a 3 pounder. My weekend visit resulted in five fish, two commons - 7½ lb and 14 lb., three mirrors of 10¼, 11, & 13¼ lb.

Float anglers are continuing to find reasonable catches of roach. Crucians seem to be coming a bit more difficult now but small carp are continuing to show up, normally to bread or sweetcorn fished on the bottom.
Date - August 18th 2008

Mick Farmer paid a midweek visit to capture two common carp of 8 lb and 14 lb. Have had no report of any other captures other than small roach to float anglers - a result of the continuing bad weather. My weekend visit resulted in two fish, a common of 14 lb and a 16 lb ghostie.(click to enlarge)
Date - August 13th 2008

Inclement weather for most of the week seems to have kept anglers away. Just a few float fishing during the week report just a few small roach and the odd small carp.

Likewise there have been no carp catches reported. My usual weekend visit was put off till Tuesday due to family commitments. I had a good result with three carp landed, albeit small specimens - commons of 7 and 9 lb and a mirror of 8 lb.
Date - August 6th 2008

The only report of mid-week carp catches comes from member Mark Traylor who had two low-mid doubles on Friday. One a mirror of 11 lb and the second a common of 14 lb. This report is a bit later than usual because I took an extended weekend, during which I had the good fortune to bank seven carp. Three mirrors - the best of 11½ lb and four commons - best 14 lb 2 oz. These were backed up with a 5 lb tench.

Float angling still pretty good with roach, backed up with the odd crucian or small carp. Tench not showing much at all and no sign of perch
Date - July 29th 2008

A week of very warm weather has seen plenty of carp on top but very few anglers attempting to catch them. Matt Woods paid a mid-week visit to tempt an 18 lb common. The weekend saw Dan Boatwright in the right place with a 3 fish catch, all commons of 6,7 and 9 pounds. I managed just one a touch under 10 and Mick Farmer an 11½ lb common.

Float angling continues as before with roach the mainstay of catches, backed up with a few crucian and the occasional small carp. Mark Saunders and his brother report a good days fishing using worm tipped with sweetcorn catching quality roach, along with a crucian and a small carp.
Date - July 21st 2008

Carp anglers have found it a bit slow this week. Mick Farmer landed an 18 lb common on Monday morning to start the week off, and had another of 13 lb later on. I've been told of a mid-double mirror caught during the week, but no confirmation. This weekend results - a little 6 lb common for Barry, fishing on a day ticket, a 12 lb 10 oz linear mirror for me and 17¼ lb ghostie.(click to enlarge)

Float fishing, or light legering, are still showing results with roach. There are still the occasional crucian, Barry had one at 2½ lb and small carp of ½ lb to 3 lb are still coming to the hook baited with sweetcorn, bread or pellet.
Date - July 14th 2008

Carp showing well. Matt Woods and Mick Farmer both had success early in the week, Matt with a 12 lb common and Mick one of 15 lb. Mick returned mid-week with further success, a little 5 lb common and another 15. My weekend session resulted in two fish, a 15 lb common and a 12¼ lb mirror.(click to enlarge)

Float angling still producing results with plenty of roach, better fish falling to bread or sweetcorn, as are small carp. Crucians seem to be slackening off, at least for the moment.
Date - July 8th 2008

I've had no feedback concerning angling results during the week. Rough weather seemed to keep people away this weekend, I was the only one fishing on Sunday and had three carp for my efforts - a small 5 lb common, another at 13 lb and an 11¾ lb mirror. The latter already trailing 3 ft of lead core and a 3 oz. lead on a not very safe safety clip. Proof indeed, if any were needed, of the requirement to check that leads can easily be ejected and that our leadcore ban be adhered to.

For float anglers, roach continue to show well in their catches, the better fish coming to sweetcorn or bread. These baits are also accounting for small carp in the 1 - 4 lb range as well as the occasional crucian.
Date - July 2nd 2008

Not too many carp anglers this last week. Si Jarvis visited on Friday and had a couple of nice doubles - the best at 16½ lb. along with a couple of tench. My weekend visit resulted in an 11¾ lb. common backed up by a 4 lb. tench.

Roach continue to show to those fishing fine with the float. Club member Mark fished just Tuesday morning to find a good net which included seven nice crucians. An evening visitor, on Friday enjoyed good sport with roach on maggot and topped it all with an 8 lb common. Generally speaking, the water continues to fish well.
Date - June 22nd 2008

Start of a new season. We opened a little early this year and carp were showing well just prior to the 16th. I had a nice 17½ lb Ghostie (click to enlarge). Others to catch pre-season were new members Simon Jarvis and Mark Traylor. Simon's fish was a
13 lb 2 oz Common
(click to enlarge) and Mark's a 9 lb 6 oz one (click to enlarge), his first out of the water.

From the 16th onwards, carp continued to show quite well. During the course of the week I had an orange Koi at 9½lb, a linear mirror at 11 lb and commons of 7, 9, 10 and 14 lb. Club member John Tindale landed four carp to 13½ lb. Simon Jarvis paid an evening visit to bring a common of 16½ lb (click to enlarge) to the net.

Float fishing has been of exceptional quality with roach coming at virtually a fish a chuck, breadflake and maggot the most successful bait. Most anglers have also been finding the odd crucian and tench gracing the net. Indeed crucian carp seem to be making a good comeback this year. Small carp up to 3lb have also been showing - mainly to sweetcorn.

17½lb Common/Koi cross (Ghostie) in a distinct golden colour. Captured with size 8 hook to 6" flourocarbon link and a standard 2 ounce safety clipped lead. Successful bait was a scopex flavoured boilie cut in half and fished back to back.
Simon Jarvis and his 13 lb 2 oz Common. No rig details but the successful bait was 'Eclipse' baits 'Adrenalin' boilie fished along with a pva bag of freebies.
Mark Traylor's 9 lb 6 oz Common. No rig or bait details.
Simon Jarvis and his 16½lb Common. No rig details but the successful bait was his usual 'Eclipse' baits 'Adrenalin' boilie fished along with a pva bag of freebies.
Tel's 15 lb common. 2 oz inline lead, 'ghoul' flourocarbon hooklink and size 5 ESP T4 hook. Nash's scopex liver squid boilie was successful bait.
John's 17¼ Ghostie - a well known fish. Rig details -2oz lead on lead clip, 12lb braid hook link, size 8 hook ,15 mm scopex squid boilie tipped with fake corn boilie stop.
Tels 16 lb Ghostie - a well known fish known as the orange ghost. Rig details -2oz inline lead, 15lb flourocarbon hook link, size 6 hook baited with a fishmeal boilie.
Tels 16¾ lb Common - Rig details -2oz inline lead, 15lb multistrand hook link, size 6 hook baited with a Nash 'Scopex liver squid plus' boilie.
Tels 15¼ lb Common - Rig details -2oz inline lead with anti-tangle tubing, 15lb multistrand hook link, size 6 ESP T4 hook baited with a Nash 'Scopex liver squid plus' boilie.
Mark's brace of commons taken from the 'Point swim' - successful bait was Nash's 'Scopex liver squid plus' boilies.
